The property in question is the Muskoka Regional Centre on Muskoka Road North in Gravenhurst. The Ontario government has offered it for sale with an MZO attached. The proposed MZO the developer has drafted;

• Disregards local planning, community input, and critical oversight
• Is High-density with 1378 units, overwhelming local infrastructure and services
• Permits large-scale OVER WATER DEVLOPMENT including 33 villas, 2 restaurants and piers disrupting aquatic ecosystems
• Paves the way for privatization of lakebed areas, threatening public access and natural shoreline
• Increases boat traffic and shoreline erosion
• Escalates noise, light, and water pollution
• Strains emergency services, roads, and utilities
• Drives up property taxes and costs for residents while profits go to developers
• Risks setting a dangerous precedent for reckless development across Ontario’s lakes
